Welcome to Wordless Wednesday! Every week I am going to bring you the sports pictures of the week that just truly defy words. Although some, I will not be able to refrain from captioning!

Then I’m going to let you decide which is your favorite! Each week the Photo of the Week will enter the Wordless Wednesday Hall of Fame and be eligible to compete in the monthly and then the year end WW contests!

If you have a photo that you think would be perfect, please email me at princessjennifer AT stilettosetsports DOT com (I swear I did not make that email up myself!)

This week we have 6 vying for the first Wordless Wednesday Photo of the Week (and of the new year!):

1. Clemson’s Jerai Grant “Ew that ball is icky! I don’t want to touch it!”

2, 3 & 4: The new defensive move of women’s college basketball:

Forget fouls or trying to steal the ball. Just sit on your opponent! Guaranteed to work every time. Well except UMass lost 89-55. Notre Dame however, won 59-57

It’s even spread to the NBA:

  1. Mojo Said,

Seein’ as how hockey’s pretty much the only sport I really follow anymore, I had to go with Kesler. Though, that really looks more like a goal celebration a-la Alex Ovechkin or Eric Staal than an escape attempt. So as an alternative caption I’d suggest “Ow! How does Staal do that??” (Is it too obvious I’m a Canes fan?)

  2. Stiletto Jen Said,

Awwww come on! It’s totally an escape attempt! At least that’s what I would be doing if I was trapped in a hockey rink! :)

  3. Extreme John Said,

I kind of wish that the Washington Wizards/Houston Rockets had it’s own option, I would have picked that one. It’s disturbing for a lot of reasons.

  4. Stiletto Jen Said,

I was going to break them down but I really liked it better as the whole New Defensive Strategy. But yeah, the Wizards/Rockets just seems really painfully funny

  5. Andra Said,

The Dracula photo is my favorite. That’s the example how the game could make the real you come out :)
