Contrary to popular opinion, Oklahoma didn’t stand a chance against UNC in their Elite 8 match-up. UNC took the lead immediately and Oklahoma never caught up.
Oklahoma was a slew of sloppy defense, poor shots and just bad basketball. UNC dominated and swarmed on defense–everywhere you looked, there seemed to be a white and blue jersey. The Tar Heels rolled on to win 72-60.
The biggest story was the lack of poor shooting from Oklahoma. The most startling fact of the game was the Sooners’ abysmal three-point percentage. They only managed to sink 1 out of 18 three pointers all game, giving them a 5.6%.
The highly anticipated match-up between Tyler Hansbrough and Blake Griffin was a total let down as both players, well, kinda sucked for most of the game. And that was the huge problem for Oklahoma. Without Blake’s driving performance, the Sooners faltered and could never rally back against the Tar Heels.
Blake did finish with 23 points and 16 rebounds but it was too little, too late. Hansbrough had only 8 points and 6 rebounds
