I haven’t been a Ty Murray fan for most of the competition. I’ve loved Chelsie Hightower ever since So You think you Can Dance. And there were weeks when Ty was shining brightly, but he was never my fave.
- Week 9 Latin Rumba + indiv. solo: “Free Fallin’” Len came right out and said he was scared to see this and so wasI! Ty is like an awkward teenager when it comes to hip action. Plus the rumba is the sexiest, most passionate dance of them all and um, Ty doesn’t exactly invoke those thoughts! There were moments of the dance that were actually really good. But most of it, I found totally laugh out loud, shrieking funny. And his swinging hip action, grinding solo that he did gyrating up to wife Jewel in the audience had me almost peeing on myself! So not sexy at all! Bruno said “more Kenny Mayne than Mario Lopez”
- Scores: 7-7-7 = 21 to which Ty said he didn’t care because he is hoping that his “solo pays dividends later.” Poor Jewel was mortified!
- Total for night: 46/60

- Week 9 Ballroom Argentine Tango: Footwork was fun and sassy. Feet-Flicking Fun! But I thought he was so stiff in the upper body that it really distracted from the performance. Bruno thought he was strong and passionate but it lacked the smooth grace that the tango needed. Len thought he captured the flavor and the essence of the tango! He definitely is most improved in the competition!
- Scores: 8-9-8 = 25
