Last week I put up a old time baseball photo from my grandparents hoping to find out who the players in the pic were. We knew they were the Pirates from the 1940s but that was it.
I have to give a HUGE thanks to jackie43 from talk-baseball.com who came up with the answer within an hour of posting there!

On the right is pitcher Nick Strincevich. He also played for the Boston Bees and the Phillies. He is still alive and still signs autographs….so tempted to find him and beg for one!
On the left, the catcher Spud Davis.
The field they are in is actually Ebbets Field, the home of the former Brooklyn Dodgers! And the guess is that it is from 1944 or 45 since that’s when both players were on the Pirates.
Thanks again for the help! Such a great piece of history for me and my family!

Dear Jen, Saw your posting dated Dec. 16, 2008 regarding an old baseball photo. I am Nick Strincevich’s daughter. I am not sure if that is a picture of my dad with Spud Davis. According to one reference Davis is listed at 6′ 1″. My dad also is 6′1″. The man in the photo with Davis appears to be much taller.

Wow! Thank you so much for checking out the site and leaving a comment! I really appreciate it!
I will definitely look back into it. We had the photo posted on a few boards and within minutes that was the answer we had. Any thoughts on who it might actually be?
