Welcome to the Stiletto Sports Awards Show, The Doozies!
Here at Stiletto Sports, we like to give out awards to those who show “extraordinary one of a kind-“ness—aka things that are Doozies. Today, we are giving out awards for the Super Bowl XLIII Commercials! And beleive me, there were some definite Doozies here!
From Hulu.com, here is a great way to view all of today’s nominees:
Best Use of Eluding to Sex and Nudity in an Ad:
Go Daddy! Starring Danicka Patrick
Best Use of Irony in an Ad, Runner Up Best Use of Nudity in an Ad
Doritos: The Power of Crunch.
Best Use of a Koala Bear in an Ad, Best Would Be Funny If It Wasn’t So Annoying Ad, Third Place Best Use of Nudity in an Ad
Career Builder: Tips. Definitely a commercial you only want to see once because yes, it was funny, but OMG was it annoying.
Best Use of a Beloved Toy in an Ad
Bridgestone: Taters. It’s freaking Mr & Mrs Potato Head driving in call: hysterical
Best Use of a ’90s Anthem as a Soundtrack of an Ad, Best Use of Moonmen in an Ad, Runner-Up Best Dance Sequence
Bridgestone: Hot Item
Best Use and Blatant Exploitation of Funny Animals in an Ad
Pedigree: Crazy Pets
Best Use and blatant exploitation of Talking Babies in an Ad, Best Use of Last Year’s Super Bowl Ad in A New Campaign
E-Trade: Talking Babies
Best “Trilogies are Great!” Ad Sequence, Runner-Up Best Use of Last Year’s Super Bowl Ad in A New Campaign
The Budweiser Clydesdales. They have won the best use of an old campaign for the last nine years in a row since they first premiered in 1999.
Best Boys are Stupid Ad
Pepsi: I’m Good. Snort out loud funny! Great example of how to shake it off.
Best Car Commercial that Doesn’t Feel Like a Car Commercial…Ad
Audi: Chase It’s actually feels like a Bond movie instead of boring car ads.
Best “I’m a Clearly a Car Commercial” Ad
Best (almost) LMAO Ad
NBC: LMAO. Loved the idea, but then when I realized it was just an NBC ad, it fell a bit short. Could have been great with the right product being advertised!
Best Really LMAO Ad, Best “wish this could really happen,” Best use of a beloved cartoon figure, Best use of a Cheese-Flavored, Bright Orange Colored Snack in an Ad
Cheetos: Chester the Cheetah. Who else has totally missed that guy? And didn’t you love her bag?
Best The-Ad-Team-Clearly-Did-Acid-While-Making-This Ad
Coke: Heist. Seriously freaked me out. I was not of sound mind myself while watching and I still didn’t get it!
Best Dance Sequence
SoBe: Lizard Lake. There are football guys dancing swan lake and other…interesting….moves. Enough said.
Best Dance Sequence I would have paid $3 mil to see
Cash-4-Gold featuring Ed McMann and MC Hammer. The ad would have been so much better if Hammer had McMann doing the “You Can’t Touch This” dance.
Best “WTF, That’s Crap!” Ads
Two-way tie because both left me feeling very disappointed. And mildly angry.
Pepsi: Pepsuber. Such a great idea to spoof MacGuyver but so poorly executed that it made me never want to drink Pepsi again.
Kelloggs Frosted Flakes: Plant a Seed. The commercial itself was actually kinda cool and really sweet. But then you find out its Frosted Flakes. I don’t know about you but I totally blurted out “WTF? That’s Crap” Where was Tony the Tiger saying “Thhhhhhhhhhhhhheey’re Great!” The fans have spoken. We want Tony.
Best Shameless Self-Promotion, Best NFL commercial, Best Use of a Snow Cone in an Ad
NFL: Super Ad Usama Young
Most Web 2.0, Best Use of Popular Culture in an Ad
Coke Classic: Avatar. Meaning, if you didn’t understand the name of the award, you probably didn’t get the commerical. Also wins an award for the more time you watch it, the better it gets because you keep noticing funny things: The person who can’t pick which avatar to be, the avatar that can’t make it through the door because it’s just slightly off—just like in a video game….
Best Worst Use of $3 million
SoBe: Lizard Lake 3D. Who knew it was in 3D? And really, who still even has 3D glasses just laying around the house. Okay I do, but that’s besides the point. No one knew. Stupid plan. Great dancing.
Best Maximization of 2 seconds, Best Way to Reduce Advertising Costs Without Using FedEx, Best Manipulation of Super Bowl Advertising, Cheapest Super Bowl Ad, Most Anticipated Commercial, Most Unique Concept,
Miller High Life: One Second Ads. Not many could squeeze 30 different commercials into 30 seconds.***see blow for the videos, they are not in the slideshow
Doozy of the Year, Most inspired, Best WOW factor,
Pepsi: Refresh Anthem Truly loved this ad. Great idea, great soundtrack, great message, great execution… My fave!
