Nothing would make me happier than the return of Dawson’s Creek. No really. I know it’s sad but there is something so simplistically magical about that silly high school (and college) drama. It’s my guilty pleasure show. We all have one. This is mine. But there is just something about it that completely restores me when I lose my way. Ok, maybe its just the Joey-Pacey storyline that I enjoy because I really can’t bring myself to watch the other pointless plots anymore. But rewatching those scenes brings me back to the time when the actors that played those characters were dating in real life and brought a certain magical quality to the scenes that help you believe in true love and happily ever afters.
Whereas now, Joey grew up and married Tom Cruise. I mean, I can’t fault her for that because I grew up dreaming about marrying him, too. Pretty crazy that she got to actually do it.
But news from the entertainment front reports a resurgence in Dawson’s! Sadly there are no reports taht the show itself is coming back but the cast members are returning to the big and little screens in full force. Kicking off the comeback was Joshua Jackson’s role in the hit Fox show Fringe.
Then the commercials started for Katie Holmes’ guest role on Eli Stone and I read that Kerr Smith (Jack McPhee) will also be appearing in the near future.
Top it all off, James Van der Beek (Dawson), will be appearing on the CW’s One Tree Hill in time for the shows’ gearing up for the November sweeps.
In addition to t.v. roles, many are launching on the big screen as well. Most notable is Michelle Williams (Jen Lindley) with three movie releases scheduled for 2009. Williams, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal in 2005′s Brokeback Mountain, is also releasing four movies in 2008 including the anticipated Incendiary and Wendy and Lucy.
Smith and his Dawson’s Creek sibling Meredith Monroe (Andie McPhee) both have movie releases for early 2009. Monroe is releasing Wake, which I think i will actually go see, if only for the fact that her fellow co-stars include Ian Gomez (Javier, Felicity) and James Eckhouse (Jim Walsh, Beverly Hills, 90210–the original). It’s like reliving high school and college without the homework and stress!
Holmes also just kicked off her Broadway debut in October with her role in All My Sons.
So folks, look out. The creek kids, er, adults, are taking over again! Dawson’s is returning and you can’t do anything to stop it!
