My #8 Pick for Top Sports Moments of ‘08

A Giant Victory: Superbowl XLII (42 if you don’t know Roman numerals. 2008 if you have no idea how many years there have been Superbowls)

I can’t say no one expected the NY Giants to win the 2008 Superbowl because I have no idea if that is even true. To be honest, I barely remember the Superbowl at all (I know there was some really yummy snacks and drinks) but one thing is clear to me: the play of the game. Top moments are so subjective. My dad thinks the Celtics should be #1, my brother said Michael Phelps. I think it should be Kansas. But in this instance, there is no denying that this was the play of the game:

1. Eli Manning somehow got free to throw the ball and

2. David Tyree CAUGHT IT WITH HIS HEAD?! Seriously? I can’t even catch it with my hands!

And a final tidbit about that Superbowl: The Giants were 17-14 going into the game and the New England Patriots were undefeated. If that Pats won, and “pulled off the first perfect 19-0 season, they would have been enshrined as the greatest team in league history with a dynasty second to none (Newsweek.com).”

But yeah, they didn’t. So that sucks. But still, the guy caught a ball on his head!!!
