NFL Week 13 is about to kick-off with some really awesome match-ups. It was hard for me to big my game of the week because there are a lot of good ones this week! First Philadelphia/Atlanta has the whole “Michael Vick playing his first game in Altanta since ’06″ thing going for it. But he’s a scumbag and plays like five plays a game so why is that so hyped up?

The New England/Miami game is key because the Pats are on a slippery downslope coming off of their horrible loss to the undefeated Saints and their humiliating loss to Peyton Manning. Er, I mean, the Colts.

nfl predictions week 13Cowboys/Giants games are always fan favorites. They hate each other.

Ravens/Packers MNF (monday night football) is a key game since both teams are fighting to make it to the playoffs, a few weeks away.

But of course, my game of the week is going to be Minnesota vs. Arizona, old guy vs. old hot guy. Why? Well, first I heart the Cardinals. But really, it’s because this sounds like a Disney Sports film to me. Two old QBs, one who has actually retired like 6 times, the other almost-washed up, having the best season of their careers, meeting today to see which old guy still has it. Okay so that’s a slight over dramatization. This really isn’t Kurt Warners best season.

My Picks for NFL Week 13:

Now before you go reading my picks and making fun of me for my obscure choices, read The Stiletto Sports Official Guide for Team Selection aka “The Picks.” That post explains how picking teams is not always all bout the stats and numbers and all that technical crap. Half the time that just muddles up your decisions. Me? I operate on a more methodical, albeit whimsical (can you be methodical and whimsical at the same time? Sure, why not!), manner.

1:00 Games:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles v. Atlanta Falcons Atlanta. If, for no other reason, then to prove that the NFL does not need Michael Vinew york giants magic 8 ballck.
  2. St Louis Rams v. Chicago Bears: Bears. Considering the person is taking care of me during my horrible back spasms this weekend is a Bears fan, it wouldn’t be very nice to not pick them. I won’t even make fun of them if they start to lose again.
  3. Detroit Lions v. Cincinatti Bengals: Detroit. But when they lose again, I reserve the right to say I picked the Bengals. I just keep hoping they’ll make a late season run. Ha!
  4. Tennessee Titans v. Indianapolis Colts Indianapolis, although I’m not happy about it.
  5. Denver Broncos v. Kansas City Chiefs Eh…. Denver? Don’t have feelings either way about this game
  6. New  England  Patriots v. Miami Dolphins Patriots. Even though the commentators are saying they are no longer an elite team and they are rebuilding, they are still The Patriots.
  7. Oakland Raiders v. Pittsburgh Steelers Oakland.
  8. New Orleans Saints v. Washington Redskins Saints. They were flying under my radar until last week (yes, I know they were undefeated then too but I didn’t care). They impressed me.
  9. Tampa  Bay Buccaneers v. Carolina Panthers: Tampa Bay. *shaking head at myself already*
  10. Houston Texans v. Jacksonville Jaguars I care so little about this game that I almost forgot to make a pick. I guess I’ll go Jacksonville since I went to the Super Bowl in ’05 when it was there.

4:00 Games

  1. San Diego Chargers v. Cleveland Browns San Diego Do you really want to know how I picked them? Because I like their cocktail recipe from the 32 NFL Team Inspired Cocktails and their burger from the 32 NFL Team Inspired Burgers (not published yet, sorry!), better. Yes, I’m serious.
  2. Dallas Cowboys v. New York Giants: Giants…….. because this gets posted to my Facebook account and my friends do not react well when I go against the Giants. Or the Yankees.
  3. San Fransisco 49ers v. Seattle Seahawks I suppose I should confess that when I saw the two teams my first thought was “Charmed vs. Grey’s Anatomy” Tough call in my world! I’m actually going to go with Seattle, for an actual, real, football-esque reason. The weather up in Seattle today sucks! And it’s super windy. The Seahawks are used to that crap and definitely have the advantage.

8:20 Game

  1. Minnesota Vikings v. Arizona Cardinals: Have I ever not picked the Cardinals? (I should mention, Kurt may not be playing. He is recovering from a concussion and the QB will be announced at game time. If he is not playing, then its old guy vs. hot young guy Matt Leinart. In which case, I may have to switch my pick to Minnesota because as hot as Matt may be, he’s not the best QB in the league)

MNF
Baltimore Ravens v. Green Bay Packers: Ravens. I have this crazy obsession with all things Baltimore lately.

Game Of The Week:

Minnesota Vikings v. Arizona Cardinals

The Quarterback Match-Up:

Brett Favre: Age: 40    Quarter Back Rating: 112.1  Total Yards: 2,874   Touchdowns: 24
Kurt Warner:    Age: 38     Quarter Back Rating: 94.4   Total Yards: 2,718   Touchdowns: 20

Sure Minnesota is 10-1 and the Cardinals are 7-4, but I’m still expecting an awesome match-up. The Vikings have the powerful combo of Favre and Adrian Peterson bur the Cardinals have Warner and Larry Fitzgerald.

**** due to severe back spasms, todays Game of the week recipes will be delayed. will update this post shortly! Thanks!
