I am finding that I can’t escape work now. Sports talk is everywhere and I can’t really tune it out. And I’m sure it will get worse with the Superbowl fast approaching and then spring training and March Madness right around that corner. Which is good, lots to write about. But there are times I just really need to decompress and not talk shop, but talk shopping. But I went out shopping to buy fabulous designer bags and wound up talking about Sunday’s football lineup.
I’d at least like to pick up a book or a movie and escape reality.
But no, sports have even taken that relaxation away from me. Can’t read a book and just relax now, nooooooo. I read and find things to write about. But this one has been provoking me for a few days now since I read it and I wanted to take a poll about it. Here’s the deal”
I was re-reading Easy Prey by John Sandford (and ladies, if you have not read his Prey series, you have to. His leading man Lucas Davenport: OH MY GOD! Hot!) and came across a very comedic scene. A stake-out cop is teaching the girl he is protecting how to get into the kitchen, get the snacks and get back to the tv before the football commercial break is over. And timing her: “One minute, twenty-nine seconds. If you add ten seconds going and coming, you could’ve missed a pass play!”
My favorite part of the scene was this deep analyzation of the perfect football snack and it’s mass appeal.
(warning: this scene caused me to have tacos and Blue Moon for dinner the night I read it)
“You want boiling-hot cheese on the chips, medium warm salsa, very cold beer. You want that range.” (he said.)
“Do all men know about this?” she asked
All three of them nodded, and said at once “Of course.”

Later…
“All guys don’t really know about that nacho-cheese thing.”
“You’re right. There’s probably some raggedy-ass cowboy out on a ranch in North Dakota somewhere who doesn’t have either a TV or a microwave.”
So I ask you, is that true? Do all men know about this “range?”
Happy Sunday Funday Football Watching!

Throw in some chili and I could spend all Sunday in front of the TV.
