Ever since I wrote the “NBA All-Star, All-Shoe Team” piece in February, I have become obsessed with sneakers. Not actually wearing them or anything crazy like that! But just scrolling through them and seeing all the crazy styles that release.
In the last few weeks, I’ve had a lot of requests for those NBA All-Star sneakers from February. I figure that they must have finally released and I could do a quick rundown of where to find those hot sneakers. And maybe pick some of the hottest kicks for spring to feature.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
You think a girl’s shoe collection is bad? It’s nothing compared to true sneaker-aholics. I know I said that when I wrote the All-Star piece but I really think I blocked out that memory of just how complicated the sneaker world is.
So far in 2009, Air Jordan has released over 80 different designs (styles & colorways combined). We are only four months into the year!
Following this current 2009 trend, they will release about 250 different sneakers in 2009. Give or take a few.
And Air Jordans are just one division of the Jordan Brand. Derek Jeter, Carmelo Anthony, Ray Allen, Chris Paul and dozens of other high profile athletes are part of the Jordan Brand and have their own private releases every month.
And the Jordan Brand is just one division of Nike, albeit the biggest, baddest division. And Nike is just one division of the whole Sneaker Producing World, albeit the biggest, baddest division.
I’m just saying, that’s a lot of shoes!

My other problem with sneakers is that the really hot fun ones that debut can be really hard to find. You either have know someone who knows someone, or you need to try your luck on eBay. I did find some of the All-Star Shoes and along the way found some really cool fun ones for my Fashion Friday Show & Tell! But I also spend about three hours scrolling through sneakers instead of doing what I was supposed to do! Oops!

The Funnest Sneaker!
Reebok Reverse Jam Mid-Monopoly Chance, Mens
That’s right, Boardwalk, Park Place and and “Do Not Pass Go and Do Not Collect $200″ have made it onto shoes! How fun!

Prettiest Sneaker…that I would actually considering wearing, if I wore sneakers!
Reebox MLB Clubhouse Shimmer
also available in Tigers, Mets, Cardinals, Dodgers, Bears
They are pink and sparkly! Well, okay, shiny. And their team promotion is very discreet and tasteful! Perfect!
Boston Red Sox

2008 World Series Champs Philadelphia Phillies

Best Use of Spring Color Palates in a Sneaker
Nike Air Max LTD Womens
I have to say these are a lot prettier than my black, grey and pink Nikes that I own! I am just trying to justify buying another pair of sneakers when I only wear the pair I have once a month!

Nike Air Digs, Spring ’09 Womens
The word you are looking for is: WOW. I’ll admit that’s a whole lotta sneaker! But they make me smile and think of the crazy-colored 80s that I grew up in! These are set to release soon, they aren’t out yet!
The Most Coveted Women’s Kicks
Nike Air Max 1 Metallic Silver & Turquoise
They are made to represent Tiffany & Co.!!!!!! Sadly, they are just as elite as T&C’s high end lines. You can’t find them except on eBay if you are lucky.

NBA All-Star Shoes
Sneaker Fashion Week premiered tons of hot new kicks. Not all the shoes release for public sales–most are Player Exclusives. A lot of the shoes actually debut a few months later, but in different colors then seen in the games. But they are usually harder to get than a Wii used to be.
Here are some my fave NBA All-Star Shoes that have released. Again, click on any shoe to get more details and find out where to purchase them! The complete list of who wore what on the runway basketball court can be found in my NBA All-Star Flight Club of Sneakers.
Nike Zoom LeBron VI
Something about them gives me a “Converse meets Nike” vibe which I think it really fun.
They also come in red which I love
Adidas TS Bounce Commander
I find myself drawn to these shoes. They also come in blue and silver representing the East but I really like the West color palatte better for this style.
Nike KD1
They might not be the day-glo orange kicks that Kevin Durante rocked during All-Star Weekend but they are the same make! Personally, I like the toned down version!
Nike Zoom Flight Club
Tony Parker’s signature shoe. Although he didn’t wear them to the All-Star Game. But J.R. Smith premiered them in the dunk contest.
These are set to release in May but you can pre-order now.
Stay tuned for more as we hopefully start running a Fashion Friday column ever week!
