Sports Fans are, by far, the easiest people to shop for. All you need to know is the team name—or even just the sport—they are into and you have a million choices for the perfect gift. But sometimes when there are too many
choices, it’s easy to be just as overwhelmed as if they are a person who has everything in the world and is impossible to shop for.
Over the next few weeks of the holiday season I’ll be breaking it down and making it easy to shop for the sports fans in your life by bringing you all sorts of great Holiday Gift Giving Guides from the most popular team jerseys and the best gifts for tailgators, to last minute holiday gifts and stocking stuffers! I’ll also cover the best gifts for each kind of sports lover like baseball fans, football fanatics, basketball lovers, NASCAR junkies, etc.
But first, I want to give you The Top 5 Gifts for Any Sports Fan.
1. Tickets
Tickets to a real live game are any sports fans favorite gifts. There is nothing like watching your favorite team, your favorite players, playing right in front of your eyes.
Make it a really memorable gift by picking up a Ticket Stub Collector Diary. When you get the tickets, put them in the first page of the diary and then wrap up the book. Play it off like the ticket book is to store all his other ticket stubs and then when he opens the first page he’ll find an extra special present!
But don’t forget, what will make the gift even more special if there are 2 tickets: 1 for him and 1 for you so you can go together!
Here are some ticket suggestions.
- Is he a college football fan? The college bowl games are a huge event!
- Is he a college basketball fan? Any March Madness tournament game
- Does he love baseball? Plan a trip to Florida or Arizona for MLB spring training! The games are cheap and there is an increased chance to actually meet & greet star players at the game or around town.
- Is he an NBA fan? The NBA All Star Weekend is a huge event in February that has a slam dunk contest and the All-Star Game and premieres all the hottest new basketball shoes from all the elite players.
- Is he a NASCAR junkie: Head to Daytona in Feb for the Daytona 500 to start the racing season!
- Do you love him as much as he loves the NFL? Then do it right: A Super Bowl ticket.
2. Jerseys
Jerseys are the most popular and coveted of all fan apparel.Over the next few days we’ll be bringing you a complete list of the best selling and most popular NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and NCAA jerseys for the 2009 Holiday Season. But for now any jersey with the names “LeBron, Kobe, Jeter, Favre, Manning” or teams like “Steelers, Yankees, Tar Heels, Gators, Lakers” are pretty much the must haves of the season for sports fans. ***do your research first though! You don’t want to get a Derek Jeter jersey for your Red Sox loving dad or a Tyler Hansbrough Tar Heels jersey for your Duke alumni boyfriend!
3. Custom Sports Themed Gift Basket
I actually think this should be #1 but I don’t feel like cutting and pasting the post! Custom Gift Baskets are the perfect gift because they are what they say they are: custom. That means you can make them however you want to rally cater to the recipients likes.
- Is he a movie fan? A gift basket full of amazing sports films, popcorn, toppings and candy would be the perfect idea!
- What about golf lovers? Fill the basket with personalized golf balls, latest golf gadgets to improve their game, fun snacks, and monogrammed towels!
- Does he like to read? Make a gift basket full of the top must-read sports books for 2009 like Open by Andre Agassi and The Yankee Years by Joe Torre.
4. Team Collectibles
Now “collectibles” encompasses quite a bit. It could be anything from a $2,300 autographed Michael Jordan Olympic Gold Jersey to a $2.30 New York Yankees Pez Dispenser. The eye is in the beholder of the collector. It really depends on your budget and what you can afford to give. If you can afford this $40,000 autographed NBA greats wall plaque, please leave a comment below because I really want to be your friend! I will totally send you my address. Shoot, I’ll even come pick it up at your place on Christmas morning.
5. Fan Gear
It’s important to remember that sometimes the biggest and best gifts come in small packages. Jerseys, collectibles and tickets can be pretty high ticket holiday gifts. But not all sport fans gifts need to break the bank. Fan Gear is one of most popular and best things to give for any occassion. And Fan Gear covers everything from team apparel all the way down to bumper stickers. As long as you get the sport and the team right, any gift you give with a team logo is going to score big this holiday season!
