It’s time for the football playoffs and from now until February you are pretty much screwed if you don’t want to talk football. It’s everywhere. Going to try to break down the playoffs round by round and give my picks of who I want to win. I wouldn’t place money based on my picks cause I disregard any sports facts to make my decisions. They just muddle things up.
Today starts the Wild Card Round with two matchups. Sunday has two more. Next round is next weekend.
Game 1 NFC: Saturday, Jan 3, 4:30pm :
Atlanta Falcons (11-5) vs Arizona Cardinals (9-7)
Now normally a Falcon can probably totally destroy a Cardinal. They are bigger and have talons but apparently that stuff doesn’t matter in mascot world of football. Here’s the breakdown:
- Game is being played at the University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the Cardinals. Arizona has only lost 2 games there this season
- Falcons, on the other hand, ain’t doing so good on the road. They won four, lost four.
- However the Falcons have been on a roll and won the 5 of their last 6 games while Arizona lost 4 of their last 6.
- NFL.com says “The Falcons are No. 2 in the NFL in rushing, and that’s not good news for the Cardinals, who already have played six of the league’s top nine rushing teams and lost to them all..” Don’t know what all that means but it sure sounds good! Going to try to use that in conversation just to freak people out.
- They also said that Arizona hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record since Week 6. I thought the playoffs were for good teams?
- QB Matchup: Really tough call here. Atlanta has Matt Ryan, who at 23, became NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year as he led his team to the playoffs. Arizona has Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart. Warner’s a little older–37 to be exact; a little more experienced–MVP in 1999 and 2001 and a Super Bowl already under his belt. And Leinart…he’s HOT! Ryan looks like a little kid in comparison. And Leinart is buddies with Nick Lachey
- Oh and Michael Vick, the evil dog monster used be on the Falcons. Bad man.
- So ya know, I think I’m gonna go with the Cardinals. Even if I’m wrong I can still console myself with watching their QBs!

Can’t believe the Cardinals actually pulled it off. By the way I gave you an award. It’s on my blog so come check it out when you get a chance.
