I promise I’m not turning this site into a mainstream celebrity blog! I have just been really sick for the past few weeks and the meds that I had to take to get better have made me very loopy and pretty much incapable of doing anything—except play on Facebook and watch a whole lot of reality television!

At least I picked a good few weeks to be sick with the series finale of Top Chef, the drama of The Bachelor, the start of America’s Next Top Model (plus ANTM marathons on Oxygen!)and Dancing with the Stars and the Top 13 eliminations for American Idol! (**Update: I have recently been informed that lots of sports happened during the time I was sick that I could have watched to stay up-to-date. My informant would also like to know why I didn’t tune into any of those sporting events. Um. Because I didn’t want to? Besides, I did watch football great Lawrence Taylor on DWTS so there!)

Like most people, I have a lot of opinions about these shows and all their wonderful drama! In the last month or so I’ve been doing a lot of live tweeting on Twitter (StilettoSportsJ) during Idol (when I’m not utilizing my wonderful DVR!) and I love interacting with everyone. Rather than launch yet another reality tv based blog (that I really don’t have time for) I decided to just carve out a little section of Stiletto Sports for Rants, Raves and a bit of Reality Recap!

First up, it’s Don-cing With the Stars!

So happy it’s back! I am a dancing show junkie! I live for summer and So You Think You Can Dance— I am totally loving how stars from that show are making their names on the pro level of DWTS (ie Dimitri, Lacey, and now Chelsea Hightower…)

I didn’t bother with the whole Name Dropping Extravaganza Hoopla Nonsense but I have been really looking forward to the premier. So far Season 8 is FAR surpassing my already high expectations!

Apparently the new “stand-in celebrities” were leaked over the weekend but I had no idea (see above reference to being sick and highly medicated!) So to say I was shocked–and thrilled— to see Holly Madison and Melissa Rycroft is beyond an understatement.

Who is Melissa Rycroft? You may know her better as Melissa from The Bachelor, aka the girl that had her heart and relationship smashed all over national television and  the internet by Jason Mesnick last week. Talk about a HUGE ratings booster for DWTS. I mean, heeeellllooooo Melissa is so America’s Sweetheart right now and people are dying for more of her

Who is Holly Madison? Only the original Girl Next Door! Talk about great timing! She just left Hugh and people are also clamoring for more of Holly!

How lucky did ABC and DWTS get with Jewel and Nancy O’Dell’s injuries? Seriously! Talk about a MAJOR upgrade!

My Fave Five

I heart Melissa Rycroft!

I am so beyond thrilled that The Bachelor jilted girlfriend Melissa Rycroft was, well jilted! Because now she is on this show. Simply put, I adored her–and still do. The only reason I didn’t write about the whole Bachelor drama when it happened is that I was too medicated. And honestly, I was too upset. However, I did add a side tangent about it at the bottom of this post!

I think she is cute as can be and my heart—along with most of America’s—totally went out to her. So happy to see more of her looking happy and outright fabulous! It’s like a big F U to Jason Mesnick! Plus she was FANTASTIC! I thought she looked unbelievable! I was on the phone with my BFF (cuz I was totally freaking out when I found out Melissa was on DWTS and needed to share my excitement) and we both exlaimed at the same time:

Charisse: “She looks like The Little Mermaid!”

Me: “She looks like Jasmine from Aladdin!”

In other words, she was an exquisite Disney Princess on the Dance Floor! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her and really cannot wait till next Monday to see more! And she only had 2 days to train! Unbelievable!

I’ve been a fan of Tony Dovolani since he danced with Stacy Keibler way back. Then I saw him on PBS during some ballroom competition and thought he was fantastic. Really lo0king to this partnership!

Holly Madison

I’m am loving Holly on the show! I’ve never been the biggest fan of Girls Next Door—don’t get me wrong, I like the show, but I wasn’t a die hard fan, always forgot to tune in–but I am definitely excited to see her on Dancing! Even if she was a hot mess on the first show! I think she will totally get better–there is no way she’ll be voted off! Holly and Mel are going to be drawing some major fans to the show

Plus, hello……her and Dmitri Chaplin!?!? Holy Hotness Overload! There will be so much skin showing they may have to but a PG-13 rating on the show!

I heart Julianne Hough!

Don’t even care who her partner is or if he can dance! I love her! There were rumors that she wasn’t going to be on this season and I would have boycotted the show–that is how pure and true my love it. I suppose I better say it now, although I am a completely heterosexual female (even after my crushing heartache from Jason Mesnick), I have a thing for hot blondes with great legs.

I do think it’s cool that she is dancing with her BF country singer Chuck Wicks–who is hot–but he isn’t the one I’m cheering for!

*Update: I have to amend that statement! After doing my Chuck Wicks profile, I sort of fell in love with the guy! He’s really great!

Lil Kim & Derek Hough

Any person that can get on DWTS and give props to “her girls in the Federal Prison” and make prison sound like she was just on vacay….. Gotta give props! Plus there is added bonus of wondering what she’ll show up in! This is the woman who showed up to the fully-clothed event the MTV VMA with a pasty on her boob.

And really, how great would it be to hear the band rock out some  Lil Kim songs like “How Many Licks” or “She Don’t Love You.” Not to mention those songs whose titles are even explicit!

I am also a huge Derek Hough fan! I think he is beyond talented and I love the sibling rivalry with him and Jules! These two will be so hot to watch!

Gilles Marini

And I swear it’s not just because he is Samantha’s hottie naked neighbor from the Sex & The City movie!

I really thought he was fantastic! The Cha-Cha with Cheryl Burke was HOT HOT HOT! I loved Cheryl way back with Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith but since then, I’ve felt she’s had a major attitude. And she looks so old even though she is early 20s!

Ok seriously, Holly, Lil Kim and Gilles AND Denise Richards? This show is definitely not going to be family friendly anymore!
Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas

She is just so stinkin’ cute! Her and Mark look great together—you could already see their chemistry. I thought she was fab and their waltz was amazing! As the weeks have continued I put her in my fave five and did a complete profile of Shawn and I recap her performances weekly too!

The Rest of the Best:

Denise Richards & Maxsim Chmerkovskiy

I can not wait until Denise breaks through her awkwardness and first performance jitters. I think she will be Brooke Burke hot! And her with Max….look out!

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer

Never been a fan of Jackass but I thought Steve-O did a great job with the waltz! Very impressed and looking forward to seeing what else he will bring. Plus I love rebellious Lacey!

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska

With the exception of Jerry Rice who I thought was terrible, football players have rocked this show! I think LT stands a great chance especially with Edyta as a partner. She did fabulous things with Jason Taylor and I can def see the potential with Lawrence Taylor! Sure he’s not as easy on the eyes as Jason but Edyta is (I have a major thing for her legs)

Belinda Carlisle & Jonathan Roberts

When I first heard she was on I was thrilled! Who doesn’t love Belinda and The Go-Gos? I hear her name and I immediately start belting out humming “ooh baby do you know what that’s worth, we’ll make heaven a place on earth!” I thought their dance was amazing when I watched it BUT by the end of the show, I had completely forgotten about it.

And even while I was writing this recap, I re-watched the dance, and promptly forgot about it by the time I got to her on my list. I fear this could definitely be a problem with her later on when the bad seeds are weeded out and she is up against the big names Holly and Melissa! Plus I find Jonathan very blah too.

My Least Fave Hot Messes

David Allen Grier & Kym Johnson

Can’t even remember the performance. Which is a shame because I really like Kym.

Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower

That was just painful. Feel bad for Chelsea since it was her first show with DWTS and she was stuck with him Apparently the most exciting thing about Ty Murray being on the show was that his wife Jewel was going to be on it too so it would be an interesting battle. But now she is injured and he sucks.

Steve Wozniak & Karina Smirnoff

Didn’t enjoy him and never liked her. Buh-bye

My side tangent about The Bachelor & all the drama:

First, I have very, very mixed feelings on the show in general. I find it very icky to see someone date, make out and fall for multiple people. Yet it’s like a train wreck that I get sucked into watching. This was only the second season I’ve invested any of my time in. The other was Bob Guinea. But who could resist Jason Mesnick? Drop dead gorgeous and the perfect dad. Sigh. Yum

The finale:

I was watching the show on DVR—but only about a 15 minute delay of when it was airing. I saw Jason picked Mel and I was all teary eyed and happy. I txted my fellow Bachelor-Obsessed friend Jules to say “are you watching??!?! I’m almost crying! I want one!” The whole proposal was just so amazing and I thought Melissa was so real and wonderful all season. From the very beginning I thought she was such a sweetie. Something about Molly, on the other hand, rang so false to me.

Then Part II After the Final Rose started…I was devastated. I felt ill. I feel kinda silly to even admit it even though I know thousands of women felt the same. I mean we don’t even know this man! But it’s what he represented– and presented– all season! He was the perfect guyall season. The girls on the show LOVED him! Who didn’t adore him? Hell, I fell in love with him. The whole time though I just felt like it couldn’t be real and he couldn’t be that great. Then he chose Melissa and it was fairy tale perfect.

Ha.

I watched him on Jimmy Kimmel after and felt slightly better.

I still have no idea why there had to be After The Final Rose Part II.  Apparently the first one wasn’t heart-wrenching and painful enough.

I saw Jason and Molly on Ellen and it kinda made me feel a bit slimy again. Like I needed to shower. I didn’t see Melissa’s interview on Ellen until tonight on YouTube. Ellen mentioned that there were private emails between Melissa and Jason that were leaked on Access Hollywood.

Again, had no idea till I looked them up and read them. First I have to say it was pretty crappy that they were leaked and announced to the public. As if their relationship and issues weren’t public enough. Second, Jason is an ass. Third, I will not be watching The Bachelor or The Bachelorette or any other show produced by any person involved with either show ever again.
