First, I have finally started working on the new layout and it’s FABULOUS! Loving it. Crossing fingers, could be done by Monday! You know, if I forgo sleep and postpone taking down the Christmas decorations for another week….

I’m making a new header/logo and it’s still in testing phase but I like it!

What’s new this week:

In case you didn’t notice, there is a new button on the top of my page called My Shop! This is the link to my newest great idea: My Fierce and Fabulous Boutique! It’s full of my favorite things and Must-Haves! From great sports merch to my favorite shoes and purses that top my wish list! Also there is a section for “How to be a Fabulous Super Bowl Party Hostess” with some things like cookbooks, aprons, dip bowls, and banners guaranteed to kick off your party!  There is also a section for Fabulous Fashion Finds that had some cute team merchandise so you can show some team love and not look hideous!

Anyway, it was my new fun thing to play with this week that further delayed the launch of my new design! Hey come on, I found out I could build my own store without having to have any employees and stuff and I could put whatever I wanted on it and make it all fun? I had to stop everything and play with it!

I personally own all the movies recommended on there and most of the books. If I don’t have it, someone very close to me does and highly recommended it so it’s now on my Must-Read list!

Random Football F.A.Q.

Q: What does the bend and snap mean?

Jen: Well, according to Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, the Guaranteed Guy Getter is the “bend and snap” (aka bend forward to show your booty and then snap back up with your chest thrust forward) In football the bend and snap is when players bend over with their tushies in the air until the ball is “snapped” and then they too, all snap back and run, chest forward into the person in front of them! Q: What constitutes unsportsmanlike behavior/conduct in the NFL?

Jen: According to the NFL Digest of Rules (aka the Obnoxiously long 36-page digest of crap) it is “Any act contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship” Duh. How long do you think it took them to define that one? Makes me think they don’t even really know what their own rule mean. But I do know that making snow angels and personal phone calls during a game is unsportsmanlike. See Angels in in End Zone and Donovan McNabb in Wordless Wednesday. Usually involves taunting the other team.

Q: What happens to the flowers after the Rose Parade?

Jen: After every Rose Parade, the floats of flowers are parked in Pasadena and exhibited for visitors. Then I believe the flowers are donated to the city and other places. Could be wrong but I think I did read that, just can’t remember where.

Q: What happens to the college games when January 1st falls on a Sunday and why?

Jen: The games automatically get moved to Monday. This is first because back when the Rose Parade first started they didn’t want to have it on Sundays to interrupt Church services. There would be many horses in town on Sundays for Church and the parade would startle them. So when the Bowl Games came about, it seemed natural to keep it as part of the celebration. Then there is the whole competing with the NFL games thing too. (It totally freaks people out that I know that information without looking it back up!)

Jen: That would be Flutie Flakes named after former NFL player Doug Flutie. And yes, I knew that without looking it up. They actually made a come-back in 2008, 10 years after they were first on shelves. Yeah I know, you are totally wondering if they made new ones or if these are the unsold boxes with a new label…. P.S. I can’t wait for someone to ask about the baseball player with salsa so I’m going to tell you now. It’s Dustin Pedroia from the Red Sox. “Pedroia’s Premium Salsa.” There’s a whole website bout this stuff! I didn’t think I would have a Top Blog pick for the week because I was out of commission all week and haven’t been around to many blogs. However, this one snuck in literally last second as I was researching about beer pong  Post. Let me correct that because it’s not like beer pong requires actual research. It’s real guys holding sports accountable. No Sportscenter b.s. This is picking apart sports…and sportscenter…at it’s finest! Best part is, you get your sports update without even realizing it. Funny yet informative and not full of a whole bunch of crap that you don’t need.

The First Thanks Giving

The Stiletto Sports Saga: A tale of the Princess and the little idea that grew.

It all began as this little innocent idea in my chaotic mind on a sleep-deprived day. Isnt’ that how they all begin? Actually, they all begin:

Once upon a time….
there was a Pretty, Pretty Princess known throughout many kingdoms for her Great Ideas ~ as Editor Princess for the local newspaper, and then as a Visual Princess for the local clothier. But it had been ages since the Princess’s last Great Idea, and she was growing scared.

Then, late, late at night in Princess’s pink-bubble filled mind, clouded with lack of sleep, a little idea began to form. The Princess remembered her knack for writing about sports! Or at least she LOLed when she read her words. She began to wonder if others would laugh as well.

As the night wore on, the idea continued to evolve. By first light of morning she was envisioning herself as a Princess of Sports for Stilettos: a sports writer with a tiara (and fabulous shoes) ready to help the masses of other stilettos that were tired of being bored by sports!

The Princess was amused with her own daydreaming fantasy and kiddingly started telling people her idea, hoping to make others laugh. And laugh the others did, however, not in jest but in merriment. What a wonderful idea, they cried!

So the little idea began to grow and grow, nurtured by the imagination and vision of the Princess, until it become an all-consuming entity in the Princess’s life. Not a moment went by that the Princess wasn’t scribbling ideas on every scrap of paper, endlessly researching facts and trivia or incessently tweaking the website till it met her standards.

The Princess toiled day and night to help the little idea, hoping that one day, the little idea from the pink bubble world, would grow into something big that everyone would love….
and they would live, happily ever after

To celebrate this milestone, I wanted to do something to give back to everyone that has been helping me along this journey so I am creating a fan section! I may write the content and maintain the site, but if there were no fans, there would be no point!

So let me give you a sneak peak at the new section of Stiletto Sports: The Stiletto Sports Fabulous Fanatics (I don’t care if you are a boy, you get to be Fabulous too. Or maybe Fierce. I’ll leave that decision entirely up to you!)

Originally, I was going to launch this category today. However, I was brainstorming last night and realized that Stiletto Sports has already outgrown this website layout and in the next few days, we will be giving it a major overhaul. (And let me tell you, if the theme we picked out works, the new site is going to be AMAZING!)

So instead we are going to make today all about the Fanatics and the 100th post but the category itself won’t appear on the actual page until the new template is up. (Geez, I wrote that sentence at least 5 different times but it still didn’t come out right. Put it this way. It doesn’t make sense to edit all the HTML codes and design features to add a whole new category right now when it’s already set-up to run on the new design).

The Stiletto Sports Fabulous Fanatics category is still in the early stages of invention (kinda like this site itself…) but so far I’m planning the category to have:

• Fan Recognition: Giving back to those who are supporting this team! Top Commentors, promoters, collaborators…. and…..Fabulous Fanatics Friday!
