Welcome to my 6th annual Thank You post. This started years ago after a super-late night at working retail at good ole EXP (aka Express Crossgates Mall in New York). I was tired, cranky and generally pissed off that I missed the big party my friends (aka The Myrtle Boyz) were throwing. And I was even more annoyed that I was in a bad mood on what was technically Thanksgiving. So….. before i went to sleep I decided to make a list of all that i was thankful for and put myself in a good mood.

The list is quite long, I mean it was long 6yrs ago so now its REALLY long (there’s a shocker) soooo, if you want to just find yourself, i understand. the names are at the very end. But hey, maybe if you read it, you’ll find things you are thankful for & forgot about too. And maybe you’ll smile about the little things.and now, in no particular order…

For my uncuddly monster of a cat who hates to be touched…. because it makes those moments when she wants to be pet and cuddled and snuggled all the more special!

Not to be the crazy cat lady, but….. thank you for Peanut Butter. For a little kitten that wasn’t even supposed to be mine, she has truly transformed my life. I can’t imagine my life without her or how I would have gotten through all those horrible times without her by my side.

for my family. whose love and strength and solid support carried us through the hardest times of our lives.

Seemed perfect for Wordless Wednesday!

Yes, it’s true. During their game on Friday, April 17, Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn wandered onto the baseball field proudly sporting their Washington Nationals jerseys without noticing that the “O” was missing.

Well,”proudly” might be an overstatement since the Nationals suck and no one is actually proud to be them or support them. Especially now! Oooooops!

For the last week I’ve been trying to convince you just how great March Madness and the NCAA basketball tournament is. I gave you Elite 8 Reasons to Watch and in my Getting Ready for the Big Dance Guide I told you that the tourney is reality TV at it’s finest!
Just in case you still don’t believe (ahem, Dad this means you!)—or you are like me and totally love the tourney— I found a great clip that showcases some of the most amazing highlights that make the tourney so great! It is one of the best compliations that I have found and definitely had me running around the house like the great Jim Valvano in excitement for the tourney to start!

And to be honest, this is almost nothing compared to how exciting the first two rounds of this year’s tournament have been with buzzer beaters galore, OTs….double OTs…. and the little guys giving the big teams —and everyone’s brackets around the country—a major scare.

Before I go back and try to dig into some March Madness, thought I would honor finally feeling better with the things I am thankful for this week:

1. My health being restored! Yay!
2. Pain meds and antibiotics that make you really loopy!
3. Mike for taking care of me all weekend and forcing me to go to the ER even when I really really didn’t want to.
4. Carrie for taking me to the store and calling to check on me daily (and only making fun of me a little!)
5. American Idol, Top Chef, The Bachelor, ANTM Marathons & new episode, Friends on DVD and Grey’s Anatomy—all of which kept me in a mind-numbing coma for a a good week and a half. Although I will say Jason Mesnick, ABC and The Bachelor producers royally pissed me off this week. But anyway.
6. FACEBOOK! You have no idea how much fun it is to go deep facebook stalking at 3 a.m. when you are completely cracked out on pain meds and antibiotics. Oh the places you will go and the people you will find!



7. Facebook! Definitely deserves another mention because this week has totally rocked just because of that. Even if I suddenly feel like I’m back in high school. To the point that I found my high school crush and I’m still too shy to friend request him. Seriously!
8. My compulsion to keep every ticket stub, postcard, letter, picture, and piece of randomness since high school and…
9. My neurotic and complusive documentation of every single event and feeling from 1993-2001 in my many journals because
   • While talking to a guy on Facebook who was a year younger than me in high school, I took out an old photo album and what fell out but a picture of said kid from  7th grade. I got to tell Him that A. my friends and I used to call him “cutie pie” B. Upon reading my pink hearted journal circa 1993, I discovered “we danced together and [Cutie Pie]is so HOT!!!!” and C. We also once kissed (I didn’t tell him that though!)
   • While talking to my first great love Charlie on Facebook, was able to read back to him, word for word, the excruciatingly sappy and cheesy first letter that he ever wrote to me in my junior year in high school. And the super corny postcards that he didn’t even remember writing to me! (I also read him things I wrote bout him like “the prom was the most magical night ever!!! We were in our own little world I LOVE him!!!”
10. Twitter Followers! Big Big thanks to all of you! Definitely kept me in the loop, even when I was loopy. And kept me really entertained! I couldn’t do much and had the attention span of my cat so Twitter was a great tool this week! Thanks for all the support and fun!
11. Peanut Butter (my cat, not the food) who remained perfectly indifferent to my pain and suffering and still refused to cuddle with me–but checked in on me every once and a while to make sure I would feed her was okay.
12. My older brother Mark’s friend from high school Dave, who found me on facebook and told me crazy stories about their parties back in the day—like skipping school and stealing a keg from the country club and putting it in our bathtub while my parents were at work. Oh,  and while babysitting me they
    1. Once convinced me to get inside one of my parents’ antique trunks and closed the lid. They were so stoned they almost forgot to let me out!
    2. My brother made hash brownies and lied to me. Told me they were special peanut butter brownies for school and I couldn’t have any.

    

13. V-double O-R-H-double E-S-V-I-Double L-E. That’s Voorheesville to those who aren’t from our lil upstate NY town. It’s one of those places that you loathe when you are growing up cuz it’s so small. Graduating class of 107—about 95 of which I went to school with from pre-school through senior year. But looking back, I had a really great childhood, great friends, and it was a really great place!
14. And finally……(Dad, if you are reading this, skip ahead to the fun video and do not read this) to the four different guys who asked me to show them, um, cleavage pictures or “video chat” with them. Thanks for the ego boost guys!

One more think I’m thankful for, all the technology of today. Without it, this week would have been so miserable.
