The Arizona Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Eagles 32-25 to win their first NFC Title and head to their first Super Bowl!
Do you know how happy this win makes me? Not because I picked them and it helps my average. Not because I won any money. And definitely not because I suddenly love football and actually give a pah-tooty. The Super Bowl is in Tampa. I’m in Tampa (or close enough). And now, Kurt Warner will be here with me in two weeks! Whoo hoo! Maybe I’ll get to stalk touch grab his ass coincidentally bump into him at the bar and meet him!

Stiletto Girl Recap of the Game:
(FYI-I don’t really do stats and numbers. Sometimes I sprinkle some in but if you want all that stuff, you are so on the wrong site!)
The Cardinals scored first, and even though the Eagles kept fighting, Arizona went into the locker rooms all hot and sweaty at the half with a commanding lead of 24-6.
The Eagles must have gotten their hot tight and firm quarter-bouncing tushies beaten in the locker room because they came out in the third quarter a whole new team. It’s like they finally realized they were supposed to be playing football because, man, did they start fighting back! They held the Cardinals scoreless in the third quarter while they rolled on to score 13 points in the final 3:19 of the quarter!
The Fourth Quarter started with Arizona their once commanding lead cut to only five.
Five minutes into the fourth, Philly took their first lead of the game with the funniest-looking touchdown by DeShawn Jackson. The pass launched from QB Donovan McNabb (Nabby!) tipped off the hands of the Cardinals cornerback and dropped into Jackson’s hands. It seriously looked like a clown juggling routine, made even funnier because when he realized that he actually caught the ball he started high kicking into the end zone! Philly 25, Arizona 24.
At this point I almost stopped watching because I thought I was to blame. I was out shopping the whole time Arizona was ahead, I sat down to watch and they were behind for the first time in the game. Coincidence?
Thank God, no.
Arizona took possesion of the ball and they didn’t let go for the next eight minutes of play. Their drive lasted 14 plays as they powered their way down 72 yards. And with 2:53 remaining in the game they drove in their touchdown, and the 2-point conversion after! At the two-minute warning, Arizona was back on top 32-25.
It was just like the Jerry Maguire moment where Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr) won the game for the–guess who–Arizona Cardinals. Um. Well, sorta. Ok, the only thing they had in common is that the Cardinals won.
Philly tried to rally back but, obviously, they were unsuccessful. Sucks to be them! Or a Philly Phanatic.
The Facts to know:
- Cardinal’s QB Kurt Warner is one of the oldest QBs to go to Super Bowl!
- Cardinal’s Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald (I LOVE him, btw) was the star of the game. He had 152 yards receiving on nine catches. If you don’t know what that means like I do, just remember try to memorize it. 152 yards/9 catches. Trust me, it will totally impress people!
- Fitzy has surpassed legendary DWTS runner up and NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice in receiving yards in a single playoff. Yeah, I don’t get that either. But he currently has 419 yards in the playoffs and still has the Super Bowl to rack up more! He’s like the Michael Phelps of football, breaking crazy records and stuff!
- The Cardinals have never even played in a division championship game, let alone win one. They have never been to the Super Bowl!
My fun, fascinating and just plain weird fact of the game:
Well, I’m sure there were plenty but my favorite has to do with my hottie Kurt Warner. Did you know he once had his own cereal (if you read my picks you do)? Back in the day there was Kurt Warner’s Crunch Time Cereal! I am so hoping they will pull it out of retirement like they did with Doug Flutie Flakes! So go to PLB Sports Products and go write to them how much you love Crunch Time and want to see them make a comeback!
