Currently I’m 1-for-2 in my picks for the playoffs. And I’m a bit miffed because it really looked like I was going to be 2-for-2 until the Colts took their nap and decided not to finish playing their game when it went into OT. Thought if I could go 4-0 in my picks, my method would spread like wild-fire and everyone would be picking based on hot guys and pretty colored uniforms!

Ah well, there’s always the NCAA tournament to redeem myself. Anyway, on with today’s NFL Playoff Match Ups.

Game 3 AFC: Sunday, Jan 4, 1:00 pm

Baltimore Ravens (11-5) vs. Miami Dolphins (11-5)

Don’t need to look into this one. Gotta pick the Dolphins. Why? Because I live in Florida, duh! (That’s right, I still say duh! Come on, you know you do too). But, I think I may have to create a new rule. The NFL has tons so I might as well, too.  Otherwise, based on all the criteria I listed, I would be forced to change my mind and pick the Ravens. Actually, it’s an addendum to Rule #2 of Team Selection: Pick the team with the hottest guys. Rule #2A. However, if a team from your hometown, home state, current state of residence, or favorite state to vacation is in a playoff match-up and does not have a cute player, you may disregard Rule 2 to support your local team. (Rule #1 is, if you actually do have a favorite team, pick them!)

Breaking it down

  • The Dolphins were 1-15 last year. Well hey, they were better than the Detroit Lions this year!
  • The Dolphins already lost to the Ravens 27-13 at home this season
  • The Ravens were 5-11 last year and this year are 11-5
  • The basketball team on One Tree Hill is also the Ravens

The QB Matchup

Vic Carucci, a senior columnist for NFL.com called the Raven’s Joe Flacco and Dolphin’s Chad Pennington “Mirror Images.” Clearly, this guy has no idea what he is talking about! They look nothing alike! For one thing Flacco has dark hair and Pennington is a blonde!

  • The Raven’s boast rookie Flacco, who has already achieved AFC Offensive Player of the Week, NFL Rookie of the week, the NFLPA Rookie of the week, and NFL Rookie of the Month for November.
  • Flacco wears the #5! Best number!
  • His first career road victory was against the Dolphins in week 7.
Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco

  • Dolphin’s QB Chad Pennington is a bit doofy looking but his name is hot so that gives him a few extra points.
  • Pennington was on the Jets for a hot minute but they totally dumped him for Brett Favre even though he helped them to the playoffs in 2002, 04, and 06. Good call there guys.
  • Pennington was also named 2008’s Comeback Player of the Year. Talk about a crappy award. Congratulations you totally sucked at the beginning of the season.  And it’s the second time in three years that he won the award.
  • He already lost to the rookie earlier this season.
See? Chad looks nothing like Joe!

See? Chad looks nothing like Joe!

Oh wait, I’m supposed to be rooting for that guy? Hmm. Great.

  1. Andrea Pennington Said,

Your comments suck! You probably know nothing about football, that is why you like to bash athletes that actually have some character and class! You have none!!! Get a life

I actually never claimed to know everything about football. If you read the about sections you’ll see that I’m just a girl with a bunch of random sports knowledge trying to help others learn in a fun, playful way.

I’m assuming that Chad Pennington is the classy, character full athlete you think I was bashing. Not really sure what I said that was so offensive in that piece! I think I just said he wasn’t as hot as the other QB…….

And talk about me getting a life? The article is about a game that happened almost a year ago, YOU get a life.
